AMVOTE CHAIRMAN, Judge Wm. Haddad (Ret.), and Executive Board members, Sana Hussein, Rouhy Shalabi, Tal Othman, and MK Dawson were on hand to honor Former Mayor Richard M. Daley achievements on behalf of Chicago Arab-American and Muslim Community. Judge Haddad addressed the audience at the Allegro Hotel on November 17, 2016.

 

In conferring a “Lifetime Achievement Award to Mayor Daley at the Arab-American Bar’s 25th Annual Installation Dinner, Judge Haddad said that Mayor Daley had “pioneered the Arabic language program in Chicago Public Schools, hosted the first ever “Arab Mayor’s Forum” in Chicago, stood by our community during the riots and backlash against Arab-Americans in 2001, appointed Arab-Americans to top posts in his administration, organized an Arab-American Task Force, the Arab-American Advisory Counsel, Arabesque Festival, and Arab Cultural Month. His legacy will live forever in Chicago’s Arab-American and Muslim Communities.”
