AMVOTE is the FIRST Arab-American Political Action Committee (PAC) in the history of Illinois. Since our certification in October of 2015, we have become a political force in Cook County by scoring some major successes:
- Doubled Voter Turnout in Cook County by targeting the 71,946 registered voters with social media blitzes using Website postings (amvote.org), Twitter, Face Book, email blasts, Robo calls, radio spots, posters, flyers,” friend to friend” emails, direct mailers. Last November, the voter turnout more than doubled from 29.,53% in 2014 to 58.83% in November 2016, and as high as 70.07% in district targeted with AMVOTE Robo calls. AMVOTE now owns its own registered voter database in Cook County and will be expanding in the collar counties.
- Combating Hate:
Lobbying: AMVOTE has successfully lobbied Chicago Aldermen to adopt Resolutions condemning ethnic Hate Speech, Travel Bans, Registration and Internment of persons based on ethnicity or religion. Chicago City Council will send these resolutions to Congress and the President. Thanks to Alderman Joe Moore and Pat Dowell.
Press Conferences: AMVOTE led 23 bar groups at the Chicago Bar Association protesting the President’s Travel Ban. (see link The conference was reported on all major networks and newspapers, including the front page of the Chicago Daily Law Bulletin.

Media Appearance: AMVOTE representatives have appeared on “Chicago Tonight”: (WTTW), Politics Tonight (WGN), and numerous cable and radio shows.
Legal Forums on the Menace of Islamophobia: AMVOTE organized CLEs at Loyola and DePaul Law School. Diversity Conferences (CineSpace Film Studios). The CLE was redistributed by the American Bar Association throughout the United States.
- Valuable Endorsements: Candidates have sought AMVOTE’s endorsements for elections for Governor, State Comptroller, State’s Attorney, and the following municipalities: Bartlett, Chicago, Franklin Park, Green Hills, Hanover Park, Lincolnwood, Lombard, Oak Lawn, Oak Park, Orland Park, Palos Hills, Palos Township, Plainfield, Poplar Creek, Schaumburg, Thornton Township, Worth Township’; and selected close State Senate races in northwest Cook County. Clerk of the Court, Judicial races, as well as the Aldermanic races in targeted North Chicago and Southwest Chicago wards.

- In the Works: Partnership with Illinois Retail Merchants Association to lobby government to lift over-regulation of small minority businesses. Revising Arab-Cultural Month Reception this November.
